On March 28th, JLL San Diego organized and participated in another very successful Easter event for San Diego Youth Services (SDYS) at their Take Wing apartment complex in Point Loma. The Take Wing program supports at-risk young adults, ages 16-24, many of whom have children of their own.
This year’s much anticipated event included a pizza party, egg hunt, and crafts for the kids. Back by popular demand, the Easter Bunny made his appearance, taking pictures with, and handing out baskets to, about a dozen ecstatic kids!
JLL’s Executive Vice President Damon Melda hosted the event. As Chairman of the Board and Chairman of the Foundation Board for SDYS, he is personally committed to raising awareness and providing much needed resources.
Special thanks to Hallie Goebel and Lauren Trott, who were instrumental in organizing the activities, baskets, and pizza party. Because of them, and everyone at JLL San Diego who generously donated time and resources, the event was a huge success. There was enough candy, healthy snacks, small toys, bubbles, chalk, and stuffed animals to fill 18 baskets. Extra baskets were later given to children who were unable to attend.
SDYS supports more than 20,000 youth and their families in San Diego County each year. They offer emergency services, safe places to live and long-term solutions for kids “on their own” by providing shelters, group homes, foster homes, community centers and transitional housing. Their full spectrum of programs is designed to help young people achieve self-sufficiency. The Take Wing program apartment complex in Point Loma offers transitional housing and supportive services for youth who are at risk for homelessness.
