JLL San Diego organized and participated in a very successful Easter event for San Diego Youth Services (SDYS) at their Take Wing apartment complex in Point Loma, last week. The Take Wing program supports at-risk young adults, ages 16-24, many of whom have children of their own.
The event, held on March 24th, included a BBQ and Easter-themed activities such as an egg hunt and crafts for kids. The Easter Bunny even made an appearance, and each child left with an Easter basket.
JLL’s Vice President Damon Melda hosted the event. Damon, Chairman of the Board and Chairman of the Foundation Board for SDYS, is personally committed to raising awareness and providing much needed resources. Special thanks to Edie Feffer, who was instrumental in organizing the activities, easter baskets, and BBQ – without her, this event wouldn’t have been the success that it was.
SDYS supports more than 20,000 youth and their families in San Diego County each year. They offer emergency services, safe places to live and long-term solutions for kids “on their own” by providing shelters, group homes, foster homes, community centers and transitional housing. Their full spectrum of programs is designed to help young people achieve self-sufficiency. The Take Wing program apartment complex in Point Loma offers transitional housing and supportive services for youth who are at risk for homelessness.
